Here is an interesting point to watch for. I found that the mast foot bearing and the mast pot plate (plastic on my boat) were very worn round the aft side. The cause was four pop rivet ends that had obviously fallen from the mast. I have replace the mast foot bearing, and the plate and am reinforcing the bottom of the pot after testing fir leaks. My guess is that the offending bits of metal have been down there since the boat was new so it may be worth checking your own mast pot if you have never done so.
I expect most people turn their boat over and polish the bottom now and again so any rubbish would drop out.

Is there anything else I should check out whilst it is in the garage??
